On the heels of the climategate scandal, which has impuned much of the science the global warming faithful praise as gospel, a massive fleet of gas-guzzlers are shuttling world leaders to Copenhagen.  15,000 delegates, 5,000 reporters, 98 world leaders, and an odd assortment of movie stars are heading to Denmark to discuss a problem that may not exist.

Now, admittedly, saving the world from itself is tough duty.  You may be concerened that those attending the summit will arrive exhausted, too tired to share their much-ballyhooed wisdom.  Never fear.  They’ve spared no expense making sure they arrive well-rested.

In fact, in order to warn the Earth of the dangers associated with over-consumption, travelers have rented a whopping 1,200 limos and 140 private jets.  This number does not take into account the people taking public airlines, cars, trains, or ships.

If it sounds dire, console yourself with the fact that an astonishing five hybrid autos will be among those vehicles and that Copenhagen’s prostitutes will be offering their carbon-neutral services for free – as long as you can produce an official delegate passcard.

When all is said and done, the Summit and its associated travel will have launched 40,000 tons of CO2 emissions into our fragile ecosystem.  That’s more than 60 of the world’s smaller countries will produce in an entire year – combined.

So, once again, while the world’s elitists meet to discuss how they’re going to make you comply with their agenda, it’s important to be aware of the fact that they have no intention of setting an example.  The rules they create are to apply, as always, to everyone but themselves.

When we’ve been forced to sacrifice our sovereignty, our economy, and our freedom upon the alter of the global warming church, remember, they’ll still be up there in their private jets – looking down at the sheep.

UPDATE:  Yes, yes, I know I wrote “Sweden” instead of “Denmark,” and yes, I’m well aware of Copenhagen’s location.  The Danes, the Swedes, and the outraged Al Gore/Leonardo DiCaprio/CRU worshippers have my apologies for the brain fart.  Congratulations to my leftist friends on their sanctimonious, typo-free lives.

    Hi,
While I agree it seems ridiculous, these are people with the power to reduce emissions and consumption on a longer term. They might or might not save more emissions than they create, which will ultimately decide whether or not the meeting is a success or failure.

I for one believe that individual reduction in consumption is a far better way of saving the world, and I think it is happening anyway.

    Regards,
    Danny

As a Dane, I am not very proud to see all the fuss that’s being made about this summit: it just seems so very fake.

All of a sudden, there are a few power outlets for electric-cars-for-hire that weren’t there before (the cars, nor the outlets). As for the hybrids mentioned in the article, I doubt the delegates will be told that those cars cost 750.000,- each (for perspective, a VW Golf costs about 280.000,-) and they are merely on loan from the manufacturer.

I am certain that one or other delegate will get the impression that that’s the kind of cars we drive (and ditto for the other fuss), and I feel very ashamed.

So, world, on behalf of my fellow Danes: I’m sorry. I hope you aren’t distracted from the real issues.

Disbeleiving global warming is not a credible position. Fine to call out the leaders on thier own bad behavior, but no need to keep yelling that the earth is flat. There is overwhelming eveidence that has much more credibility than this blog.

What freedom are you sacraficing? Freedom to be greedy and to inflict pollution on the rest of the world? Perhaps you need to refine the meaning of freedom. It used to be something good.

  6. Robin says:

Oh come on, read the source article again.
40.000 tonnes is what 30 smaller countries produce in a DAY!

and suddenly the carbon footprint of the summit is just peanuts, gues waht the total production of carbon is in the US? I did the math: 5.752.289.000 tonnes in 2006, thats 15.759.695 tonnes PER DAY.
so the summit consumes just 0.25% of what the US consumes daily.

do you think that the planes would be left on the ground or the limo’s would not be driving without the summit? no they would be rented to someone else.

The problem ‘may’ not exist, but it ‘might’ exist.

  7. Shlomo says:

My country Germany has CO2 emissions of 805,090,000 tons – the US has 5,752,289,000 tons.

  8. theserf says:

They should be in jail. End of story. Start with fraud against Al Gore and move down the totem pole.

Without Co2 plants can not grow, bread can not be made, amongst a million other natural resources.

How about these large corporations take the responsibility? Exxon has done more damage to the world than the entire civilian population.

  9. Arun says:

Think of it as an investment. Takes pollution to cut pollution. Not as much as is being emmitted, fair enough, but I disagree with your argument that we are all “suckers” for mitigating our own environmental damage. This kind of thinking leads to more and more pollution – which is where we are, and where you lead me to belive we are heading.

  10. david says:

I can see by your entry that you are not only a “Flat Earther”, but you have taken to spouting the talking points of pollution heavy industries verbatim.
Well, which is it? Cause if’n the science is BS, the carbon from their vehicles ain’t a problem… and if’n the carbon from their vehicles is a problem, the science ain’t BS.

  11. Dave says:

    ad hominem attack alert!

You don’t need to be worshipping at the church of global warming to see that if everyone pisses in the pool there will be a tangible effect.

    Robin,

Congratulations on using the exact same logic that sent U.S. forces into Iraq!

Saddam “might” have WMD’s, so we’d better do something about it, right?

  14. admin says:

Given the last two weeks of constant fraud and scandal within the man-made global warming community, I’m sure they’d love to have this blog’s credibility.

  15. Andrew Sereno says:

They try to convince us that global warming is our fault. They tell us to drive less, use less electricity, buy compact fluorescent bulbs.

IT IS NOT OUR FAULT. If our energy came from renewable resources and was not tied up in the money-game of capitalism, we could leave the lights on for as long as we want and drive for equally long… without consequence.

We, the population, does whatever is easiest. We simply do what is put in front of us. Give us clean energy and self-sustaining communities, we will use them.

To our “leaders”: Stop the elitism, stop ruining the world for the sake of your overgrown egos. Nothing will make you happy, you are diseased.

  16. admin says:

    Shlomo,

Given that Germany is only about the size of ONE US state (if memory serves, Montana) I wouldn’t be bragging about the level of pollutants you’re churning out.

The US is 3,539,225 sq kilometers, germany is only 357,022. So, per square kilometer, you are polluting substantially more than the United States. Congratulations. Please put your own house in order before telling us what to do.

  17. Robin says:

Don’t turn this in a Iraq issue
It might exist, so we can at least ‘try’ to do something about it. nobody is going to die.

BTW, was that your only argument? not impressed..

  18. admin says:

Not my only argument no, not by a long shot. However it was certainly valid, and you have not addresed it. For dozens of other arguments, feel free to read the rest of my site.

However, once again, I will state that forcing the population of the Earth to regulate it’s economies in order to deal with an issue that “might” exist, is exactly the same logic that led US forces to attack Iraq in order to deal with WMD’s that “might” exist.

It’s not specifically about Iraq, it’s about the fact that you are asking for a massive change in the way the governments of the world work, while providing nothing but suspect data and dubious projections as evidence the action’s necessity.

  19. Chris Wood says:

ALL I CAN SAY IS, BRAVO! BRAVO! Dead on!

  20. Anonymous says:

How is moving credits around going to stop pollution? Answer It’s not, they are just going to tax us to death and starve 3rd world nations to death wake up you brain dead hippies we might need to take better care of our earth but this is by no means the way to do it.

  24. Corruption and hypocrisy from Government and special interest has no end.

The brainwashed ignorant people that fall for the “Global Warming” or “Climate Change” myth continue to perpetuate the myth, while millions of dollars from regular people continue to go into the pockets of con men like Al Gore and friends.

Where is Al Gore? —- Not in Copenhagen, perhaps because, as always, he will not debate the facts.

    One question;
Why do these people need to be in Denmark in the first place? Why are they not using video conferencing.
Apart from the enormous monetary cost, just look at all the CO2 their flights gave.
Carbon footprint, these politicians make me sick.
