The president, despite some erroneus claims that the date was concocted by the media, said he wanted health care reform passed by the August break. At that point, congressmen would head home, and have a chance to learn what people really thought of the socialized medicinee plans presented in the House and Senate.
Well, it’s August, the reforms the president claims we need have yet to pass, the congressmen are returning to their states, and their constituents are letting them know what they think.
First up is the Democrat bastion of Austin Texas, where Representative Lloyd Doggett (D) held a meeting on Obamacare….
Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter (D) faced an already angry crowd which erupted when he suggested that decisions needed to be “made very fast” and that it was difficult to read all 1000 pages of a health care bill.
If this is the kind of reception Congress is going to receive when its members return to their states, no wonder the administration has been trying to ram the bill through so quickly.
Support was waning before the recess. When the politicians return, it will be interesting to see whether they actually represent the people they claim to.
