President Barack Obama threw out the first pitch at last nights Major League Baseball All-Star Game.  He delivered the ball, but just barely, and only because the catcher Alber Pujols moved up a couple of feet to snatch the ball before it went into the dirt.

Not that you’d know that, since a camera angle was chosen to cut off Pujols’ catch, protecting the president from embarrassment in case he biffed it.

Maybe more interesting was the booing the president received.  That said, here’s a better angle, showing Pujols out in front of the plate, snatching the ball before it goes in the dirt.  Obama’s “Yeah!  Perfect pitch!” fist pump is hilarious.

For the sake of fairness, here’s a clip of the previous Commander In Chief, with no such help from the camera, absolutely nailing the pitch shortly after September 11th.
