This week, three major polls were released, and they all bear bad news for the president.

At the national level, Rasmussen’s daily racking poll shows the percentage of people who strongly approve of the job Obama is doing has dropped to 32% while the number of people who strongly disapprove rose to 37%.  His overall approval number stands 52%. 

The numbers represent the first time Obama’s approval has fallen below the 53% vote majority that won the election last November, and his approval index now stands at a new low of -5.

Gallup echoed the declining numbers in a poll that shows his approval dropping to 56%, while his disapproval rose to 36%.  Those numbers are, respectively, the lowest and highest that Gallup has yet recorded.

Finally, in the state of Ohio, the Quinnipiac poll shows the president’s approval dropping to 49%.  Perhaps more telling, the same poll found that those asked now say they disapprove of Obama’s handling of the economy by a margin of 48% to 46%.  Ohio is generally seen as one of the most reliable bellwether states.

While it may be to soon to say that Obama’s honeymoon is definitely over, it does seem that Americans are starting to wake up with regards to the president’s policies.
