constitution

Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann has refused to fill out the US census, claiming that intrusive questions are unconstitutional. Apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks  the government has no right to know how many bathrooms I have.

Yes, the constitution requires that a census be taken every ten years, but it’s supposed to be a very basic numbers game.  How many people are in the US, and their ages.  That’s about it.  There is no need for all the myriad extraneous info they gather.  Apparently, Representative Bachmann agrees.

“I know for my family the only question we will be answering is how many people are in our home,” she declared. “We won’t be answering any information beyond that, because the Constitution doesn’t require any information beyond that.”

The Congresswoman also sites fears that Acorn, the out-of-control criminal organization that helped elect Obama, will skew the results or mishandle the resulting data.  Despite the fact that Acorn has now been indicted for voter fraud in 14 States, they continue to recieve more and more federal funding.  As part of the obvious quid-pro-quo for their election “assistance,” Obama is now repaying them by sending them door to door – where they’ll gather information about your family, your home, and your overall life.

So let’s get this straight.  A member of an organization indicted on fraud in 14 states is going to come to your house, demand to know how many people live there, question you about what kind of stuff is inside it, and then get your names, phone number, and information on what time you leave for work!?  Haven’t we been told over and over to protect that sort of information?

I guess we’re not, since giving it to the crooks from Acorn is compulsory.

According to Census Bureau spokeswoman, Shelly Lowe, protecting your privacy by refusing to answer ANY of the questions carries a $5,000 fine.

Here’s hoping the Congresswoman stands her ground, because until we get this sorted out, insanity rules the day.

Huh! I did not know there was a $5,000 fine for refusing to answer ANY part of the Census. That just makes me want to send up a whole, heapin’ bag of middle fingers to the Census takers. Honestly, Number of bathrooms? Okay, maaaybe it’s some sort of information the municipality needs in order to put together a water usage plan.
My social Security number? Oh, hell no. Yeah, I really want to trust some kid who’s going to be walking all over town carrying my ss#, not to mention how many other interesting tidbits of personal information, who’s going to submit it to ACORN who will THEN be entrusted to give it to the Fed’s. Yes, that wonderful institution that brought us and were comprised of such luminous defenders of democracy such as COINTELPRO, J.Edgar Hoover, Nixon and HUAC!
    Yeah-no.

actually you only give your information to “some kid” if you fail to return the one mailed to you. and as for ‘intrusive information’ there is only a 1 in 6 chance that you will get the long form anyways. and as for your social security number, that is not required.
